Brenda

Brenda Medina is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of experience working closely with young children, adolescents, parents, individuals, facilitating groups, including 10 years of experience providing counseling to individual adults and conducting group therapy.  Her primary goal is to provide you with a safe and private space where together you can take a closer look at the areas that present a challenge and are currently impacting your quality of life.

Brenda has professional training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive and Energy Psychology, DBT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and she is also certified as a HeartMath Interventions practitioner.  She believes that the best way to address any area of improvement is from a point of strength.

In her practice, Brenda has found that transformational healing and lasting personal growth happen best under the umbrella of mutual trust and unconditional acceptance.  The therapeutic alliance will be the anchor by which you will find the support and the courage to embrace your biggest fears, resolve ambivalence, and contemplate change.

Brenda is known for her success at building rapport and helping clients open up, forgetting they are in a clinical setting.  She is compassionate, warm, and very easy to talk to in English and Spanish.  She is also a musician, and an animal lover and dog trainer.  She believes in the healing power of animals.  She is currently in the process of training a puppy to become a therapy dog.

Brenda values the resolve and the strength it takes in making the decision to come in for therapy and treats each client with the appreciation and respect they deserve as they embark in the best healing and self-empowering process of their lives.
